Our Team

Frank Farrugia

It's important to have a photographer who you get along with and is in reach. Frank is an award winning Sydney based photographer, who for the last 10 years, has been photographing people from all walks of life. From wedding couples to corporates to celebrities, Frank's chilled out and personable approach makes him a breeze to work with.

Eric Macdonald

Having just completed his honors year of his Fine Arts Degree, Eric has a love of storytelling with a focus on cinematographic style. With the experience of over 120 weddings, he brings a relaxed but professional attitude to his work, ensuring to capture of natural, candid moments that will tell your story.

Here are some words from a number of clients we've had the pleasure working with.

Frank is an amazing photographer with a keen eye for detail. His handling of light and composition are superior and his ability to work with a professional model or a very amateur bride & groom shows that he has great people skills which bring out the best in them.

Kim Welinski, Asterisk Photography

Frank's portfolio of work is very versatile and wide ranging. I have been familiar with his wedding photography images over the years, plus his Regional and National award winning portrait work. His work speaks volumes and I highly recommend him for a range of photography requirements.

Marc Emmett, LNP

Frank is an amazing photographer with a great eye for detail. Having worked with him on several shoots, I can attest to his grounded, well prepared and flexible approach to each concept. Having experienced the appalling attitudes of many photographers, working with Frank has been a breath of fresh air.

Mireille Salloum, Streetfresh Digital Media

Frank did a fabulous job of our product photography that has been used on our corporate website and in our brochures. Since our products are somewhat unique and difficult to photograph, Frank had to come up with some creative ideas in order to accomplish the task that we hired him for. He has a great attitude and skills to match and I would highly recommend his talents as a corporate/commercial photographer!

Cathy Shires Marketing Manager CAC Gas & Instrumentation Pty Ltd.

Dearest Frank, We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for capturing our special day in such a special way. All of the photos you’ve taken are PERFECT. You have such an eye for capturing moments in a magical way, and truly capturing the essence of Jade and I. All we kept saying when viewing the photo was WOW WOW WOW SO STUNNING!! We love the natural and candid photos which you sneakily took of us and our guests….they too are perfect. It was such a pleasure to have you there, you made everyone feel so relaxed and at ease. Every photo was just so amazing and exceeded all our expectations. You are amazing Frank and we will be sure to spread the word of your work!

Trish & Jade

Hi, Frank. I just wanted to thank you for all you did on Saturday. Julia had told me that you were lovely but you had me at your first warm smile and you made the photo process so painless. I liked the way you were looking for opportunities for a good shot but you never imposed yourself on the wedding but let it come to you. Your sense of humour and enthusiasm were infectious and we all had a great afternoon and night. I wish you well in the future, both personally and professionally. It was a pleasure doing wedding with you! Best wishes

Jan, Mother of the Bride

After many years of experience there have been many questions about photography, our services and pricing. Please find some of the most frequently asked questions below. Hope they help you! If you have any other queries, pop us an email or give us a buzz.

Where are you located?

Frank Farrugia Photography and Video is currently situated at 7 Mitchell Road Alexandria

Street parking is available and is unmetered.

How much do you charge for a wedding?

Frank Farrugia Photography offers various photography, video and album packages and also customises quotes to suit the inclusions you would like.

A price list guide is available for download under the pricing section of our website. The packages cater for full wedding coverages of 8 hours and above, so if you are after a smaller coverage, let us know and we can provide you with a quote. Most packages include two fully qualified professional photographers whom Frank values and trusts to uphold the professional standard. Never will you receive a "student" photographer masked as a professional.

A lot of work goes in to the day but it doesn't stop there. A full day wedding coverage with videography and album products stretch to around 100 hours of work from start to finish. It is easy to think that our work starts and stops on the day of your wedding but this is certainly not the case.

We are a boutique studio and shoot a smaller number of weddings as a way of producing a high quality product along with offering variety in the clients we cater for.

On the day, what do you cover?

Based on your ceremony and receptions timings, we are happy to capture your entire day or just parts. Typically, bride and groom prep, ceremony, congratulatory and family photos, along with location and reception photos are all included in full coverage packages. And yes, we are happy to stay 'til the very end.

Prior to the wedding we will meet and provide you with a runsheet with the day's events. We have photographed many weddings, enough to understand and respect cultural and religious traditions. During the ceremony, we take on the "fly on the wall" approach and do not obstruct or take attention away from the view of the ceremony.

With regards to bridal prep, meaning the lead up to the ceremony, we like to spend around 2 hours with the bride. This may seem like a lot of time however it does travel very quickly, giving us enough to time to capture photos of the details such as your dress, shoes, rings, veil, perfume, jewellery, flowers etc along with photos of the bride getting ready with the help of her bridesmaids. It's also a great opportunity to take some family photos with mum and dad, siblings and the bridesmaids.

With certain cultures like middle eastern and european weddings, 2 hours isn't enough as there are many traditional festivities where the families are invited to the homes of the bride and groom to celebrate.

If you wish to include photos of the groom getting ready, this is certainly possible and this is where the second photographer comes into the equation. Rather than rushing to cover both with a single photographer (usually groom first and then bride), we like to simultaneously photograph both preparations so that no one is getting ready earlier than they are required. The groom's photographer then travels to the ceremony location in advance to await the arrival of the bride and her bridal party.

Both photographers thus meet at the church and follow through until the reception or should we say partay!

Do we do any destination weddings?

Absolutely. We have had the pleasure in photographing interstate and overseas to countries such as Fiji, New Zealand and Canada. If the schedule permits then we are happy to accommodate wherever your coverage is located. Travel and  accommodation costs are naturally incurred and vary as per distance and flights.

When booking a coverage where travel and accommodation expenses are involved, we require these additional costings to be booked and paid in advance. This generally involves accommodation for one night prior to the date so that we can scout the location and attend any relevant events such as rehearsals should they be held.

The additional costs can be looked after on your end or we can arrange flights, accommodation and transfers ourselves. Usually having made similar arrangements for your family and friends, and especially if you have arranged a bulk deal with the airline, accommodation, venue, it only makes sense that you can make some savings being offered by booking it on your end.

Do your wedding packages include high resolution copies of the photos?

Absolutely! All wedding packages include not only your images in high resolution, meaning they are the full size captured by the camera, we also provide a smaller version to make it easier for viewing and online sharing purposes.

The low resolution files allow you to view the many images from your wedding without stalling your computer. When filtering the images down for your album selection, scroll through the low resolution images rather than the high resolution or jump onto your private web gallery to view multiple images side by side.

So what happens after the wedding?

After your wedding, Frank will go through each and every photo and select the best ones for editing. Reasons for removing images may include blinking, people in mid speech or for the simple fact that there is a better version of the same photo. It is common for photographers, especially with digital technology to take a number of photos, especially around your family photos to ensure everyone is looking straight toward the camera and not blinking.

Once all the images are processed using a combination of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, the images are provided to you, in both high and low resolution formats. High resolution files are suitable for printing and each image has been colour calibrated using monitor calibration technology. Each computer monitor and television is calibrated differently and display the colour, saturation and contrast as per its design, but rest assured we have corrected the files and so should you wish to print some images at your local pro lab, the colour should be spot on.

The images are presented to you in a nice presentation box with a number of USB flash drives containing both the high and low resolution versions of each image within 4 weeks of your wedding date. The reason for the USB's is simply because of the sheer size and volume of the image files. Our professional grade cameras produce very large files retaining impeccable detail so it is of no surprise that printing large images is possible. At the same time, the images are uploaded to a private and secure online gallery to which can be shared to your friends and family, handy if they reside interstate or travelled to the wedding from overseas.

If you have purchased a package containing a Queensberry wedding album or other wedding book product, it is here where you both can flick through the low resolution images or jump online to the gallery to filter your selection down for your album layout. Frank is a qualified graphic designer and produces layouts that tell the story of your wedding day beautifully whilst giving attention to the images that deserve more of the spotlight treatment. Frank will then design an album very close to the standard 28 sides included in the base album price. Additional sides are optional however our intention is not to design double the quantity to encourage you to spend more money post wedding like many other photographers. Transparency is one of the key qualities we are passionate about when providing our personalised service.

The album draft is then shown and changes can be made until you are happy the design. Once you sign off on the design, it will be put into production and usually takes around 4 weeks to arrive at the studio. This also applies to packages containing replica parent books.

What is a pre wedding portrait shoot?

Wouldn’t it be nice to capture some moments between you and your partner at a beach, park or perhaps at your home before your ceremony day? A portrait shoot provides the chance for you and your partner to have your photos taken in a very casual and light hearted setting. The top images from the shoot are provided to you on disk for you to use in any way you wish.

If you would like any printed in the form of a signature board which can be signed by your guests at the wedding or any other print product, we can help you with this or you are more than welcome to look after it.

Are your images printed at a professional lab?

Absolutely! We are very happy with the quality our professional lab in Chippendale, Sydney produces and so are many many other Australian photographers.

What is a press/proof book?

Accompanying your digital files, you may wish to include a press book which takes the form of a hard cover coffee table style book containing the final selection of images. This provides you with a printed tangible book with each page adopting a 6 image grid design.

Do you offer the Queensberry MUSEE album range?

Yes we do, however only upon request.

Made from 100% cotton paper sourced from the small historical village of Arches, France and combined with the finest European leather, it is to no amazement that we consider Queensberry’s Musee series the ‘creme de la creme’ of the album world. Designed with no compromise, this album is created with the highest level of artisanship and loved by people who desire the absolute best. Available in two sizes, each album is available in vintage tan or classic black leather. With a base of 36 sides, your wedding album will certainly be a statement piece to be valued and admired.

MUSEE Album Range

Can we make any special requests on the day?

We pride ourselves on our personal service. On the day, do not even hesitate to ask us to photograph any aspect of your day. Whether it be a photo of you and your work friends on the dance floor at your reception or if you want to do something funny that only a selection of your friends will understand, we are hired to offer you the photos you desire in the most relaxed manner.

Usually if there are specific family or group photos you would like taken, we invite couples to provide us with a shot list to ensure that they are all covered.

We are having a small civil ceremony with a handful of people. Can you cater for smaller weddings?

Frank Farrugia Photography and Video documents weddings of all sizes. From small Civil Ceremonies containing the couple and a handful of friends and families right through to large weddings with 400 guests.

No matter the size of your wedding, we are here to help and produce images that you will look back to in years to come and remember the highlights of your day as if it was only yesterday.

Do you cater for same-sex couples?

Of course. Frank Farrugia Photography has a sister company called Same Love Photography which is all inclusive and caters largely for the LGBTI community. Our team are strong supporters of equality and actively participate in events in support of marriage equality in Australia.

We have had the great pleasure in travelling to New Zealand for Jason and Garrett's wedding and we hope that many more follow.

Our pricing structure is identical.

Eventually, Frank Farrugia weddings will consolidate under the umbrella of Same Love Photography, because love is love and love doesn't discriminate. For now it is simply set up a sister photographic label.
